No heat, long dry times, or a drum that won't turn — we repair gas and electric dryers and check vent safety on every visit.
A dryer that runs but doesn't heat is one of the most common calls we get, and it's almost always one of three things: a burned-out heating element (electric units), a failed igniter or gas valve (gas units), or a blown thermal fuse caused by restricted airflow. Long dry times, even with heat present, are frequently a sign of a blocked vent line rather than a broken machine, which is why we check the exhaust path on every service call.
Because a blocked dryer vent is a documented home fire risk, we inspect the vent path as a standard part of every dryer service call, not as an upsell.
On electric dryers, usually a failed heating element or thermal fuse. On gas dryers, often a failed igniter or gas valve coil.
Very often a restricted or lint-packed vent line rather than a mechanical fault.
Typically a worn drive belt, idler pulley, or drum support roller.
Commonly a worn drum roller, a shifted baffle inside the drum, or an object caught between the drum and the felt seal.
Often a tripped thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat, both of which are frequently caused by vent restriction.
